Front Raw Motorsports breaks silence on rumored merger with Tony Stewarts SHR

After seven long years, Front Raw Motorsports has announced that their star driver Michael McDowell will leave the team at the end of the season to join Spire Motorsports. Following the announcement, rumours started to grow about a massive move by FRM that includes a merger with Stewart Haas Racing.

Tony Stewarts SHR has been struggling massively in the Next-Gen era. They have been winless since the start of 2023 season and so far in 2024 has shown no signs of ending the streak. Recently reports have come out suggesting that SHR might downsize by selling couple of charters and their race shop. Another preposed idea was a merger with teams like FRM that has recently been investing big into the sport.

Now FRM’s GM Jerry Freeze has addressed the matter in the recent appearance in NASCAR SiriusXM Radio appearance. As reported by Journalist Alan Cavanna, Freeze branded it as just smoke that lacks substance. But he later asserted that the team is open to making investment in good opportunities.

On the speculation that @Team_FRM is set to grow/merge/move buildings… GM Jerry Freeze told us it was “a lot of smoke, not a lot of substance”…But he did suggest the team would listen to any good opportunities that came its way.

SHR is actively looking to sell charters according to latest reports

According the most recent reports from, Bob Pockrass, Stewart Haas Racing is seriously planning to downsize. They are hoping to do this by selling their charters in 2025, and they would be allowed to do this as their Ford deal will end this season. They would be looking to get back to a sustainable structure before getting a new deal.

The biggest team that is at least listening to offers to sell charters is Stewart-Haas Racing. Currently, a four-car team, the organization has not renewed its Ford deal yet for next year, and it has sent prospective buyers’ information on what it would take to purchase a charter.
Bob Pockrass reported via Fox Sports.

A merger between the teams seems an ideal option as it would allow both of them to have more resources and people at their disposal to have a new development path. It might also help SHR to keep hold of its charters somehow, but the same time it’s a major blow as well for the iconic Ford team.
